The Client
An online eCommerce Shopify business supplying high-end radiators, heating elements and towel rails across the UK. We helped them achieve organic growth through our Shopify SEO Services.
Why they approached us:
With low ROI Ads, Heating Style wanted to attract free traffic and visitors to the site through search.
Only 1000 visitors per month, generating less than 20% of overall sales
The foundations had been laid to support growth with new staff, products and stock.
Shopify comes with it's own technical SEO problems which require additional attention.
> A full scale audit unveiled a large amount of technical errors which were preventing the category, home and product pages from ranking effectively.
> As with many eCommerce SEO projects, duplicate content was a big area for concern. This is particularly true for Shopify stores as multiple ‘tags’ were used to filter collection pages which resulted in hundreds of duplicate pages all competing against each other.
> A lack of foundational keyword research meant category pages were not optimised for high search volume, low-competition keywords.
> No content strategy to attract ‘top funnel’ visitors to the blog.
> Very few backlinks that could be considered relevant or high-quality.
> We edited the theme of the site to ensure collection and product page titles were <h1> tags, and included relevant <h2> tags manually where relevant. Each category page also required descriptive copy to increase the relevance of the page for the target keyword but also to ensure a great user experience.
> We added canonical code to help search engines understand which pages should be indexed and ranked. Any ‘tagged’ pages with duplicate content would include this code to pass any authority through to the simplest version of each category page.
> We conducted keyword research to identify new opportunities to create, optimise and rank category pages for target keywords. Some of the best performing category pages on the site were created as a result of this research. Categories such as ‘dual fuel radiators’ , ‘space saving radiators’ and ‘thermostatic towel rail elements’ are perfect examples of long-tail keywords that are less competitive but still have high search volume with high buyer-intent.
> We identified common FAQ’s in the heating industry and targeted them in the blog to educate “top funnel” visitors and push product benefits to “mid” and “bottom funnel” visitors.
> Proposed a ‘BTU Calculator’ page which allows visitors to estimate how many radiators their home will require to keep warm based on numerous factors such as room size, number of winders, insulation type etc. This calculator not only serves as a perfect linkable asset but also informs visitors to help them make a purchase.
